Pranav Gupta is a prominent name in the country's educational community due to his notable contributions to higher education. Other than being the co-founder and trustee of Ashoka University and Plaksha University, Pranav Gupta serves as the advisor of Jamboree Education, India's top provider of international exam preparation services, which has close to 40 tuition hubs across India, the Middle East, Singapore, and Nepal.

Pranav Gupta is also a member of the executive board of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE) Chapter, Chandigarh. He is the Chairman of the Haryana State Chapter of the PHDCCI, and a member of numerous advisory boards for the governments of Punjab and Haryana; all of which serve as testimonials to his brilliance.

Early life

Pranav Gupta was born on 26th August, 1967 in New Delhi, India. After completion of his B.Tech degree in mechanical engineering from Thapar University, he went to the United States to pursue Masters Degree in business management from the University of Kansas. Pranav Gupta also worked with Ford Motor Company in the United States during the early 90s before returning to India. 

Venturing into entrepreneurship

Pranav Gupta is a driven first-generation entrepreneur who established Parabolic Drugs Limited in 1996. Leading the company from the front, this energetic leader turned it from a modest contract manufacturer into a major producer of APIs and a research ally for forward-thinking organizations.

Pranav Gupta is also the co-Founder and advisor of Jamboree Education Private Limited, New Delhi. The goal of this institution is to create new ground in the area of educating Indian students for the fiercely competitive examinations required to be accepted into international universities. As the advisor, Pranav Gupta pushes Jamboree’s growth into admissions counselling and leads the organization’s growth plans for teaching students for the SAT, GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, & IELTS. Jamboree presently has around 40 centers spread across India, Nepal, the Middle East, and Singapore after 20 years in the business. The institute annually trains more than 20000 students, becoming one of the top exam preparation facilities in India.

Pranav Gupta entered the education industry by co-founding Ashoka University, Sonepat, Haryana in 2007 along with other like-minded benefactors with the goal of creating one of the best liberal arts Universities in India. The university started functioning in 2014 with an aim to transform the higher education system. In addition, he helped establish Plaksha University in 2015, a prestigious institution that aspires to reinvent engineering and technical education via research, innovation, and teaching pedagogy. Plaksha University, Mohali, Punjab began operations in 2021 with the goal of providing students with the knowledge and skills that are needed beyond just conventional education. The founders hope to close the gap between technical education and the demands of the actual world of industry through this institution.

The trailblazer

Within a decade of its foundation, Ashoka University has managed to establish itself as one of the most prestigious names in the field of education as Asia’s first Liberal Arts University. By introducing Liberal Arts, which was unpopular in India, Pranav Gupta and other founders took a risk that effectively paid off in the long run.

With the advent of Plaksha University, Pranav Gupta plans to bring a scientific and technical change in the educational field where students can use their knowledge in practical on-ground experiences. Pranav Gupta is also committed to foundations namely the International Foundation for Research and Education and the International Edutech Foundation. Pranav Gupta aspires to insure quality education and practical skills by reinforcing knowledge, ensuring hands-on experience and fostering the development of networks for cooperative learning.

Philanthropic ventures

Philanthropy is crucial to the long-term sustainability and advancement of higher education. It has acquired a vital role for both public and private institutions by aiding the development of infrastructure, generating funding for research and curriculum design, along with offering financial help for underprivileged students.

Pranav Gupta has a consistent record of involvement in charitable endeavors. By partaking in various humanitarian efforts and leaving a lasting impression, he has long been serving the community. CL Gupta Family Trust was established in 1977, with an early understanding of the influence of philanthropy on education. It is one of his philanthropic endeavors to support individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education. Additionally, Pranav Gupta serves as vice president of the Karuna Charitable Society which was founded in 2006. The society has worked to improve the lives of 600 ambitious students from underprivileged households over the past 16 years, as well as helped 400+ widows by providing them with both financial and emotional assistance. A substantial number of students completed their professional education and achieved financial independence due to the humanitarian aids provided to them by these non-profit organizations.
